Desde distintos ángulos se ha planteado la necesidad de reformar la Universidad Distrital. Los estudiantes que enfrentaron la reforma de la Ley 30 con la MANE, los docentes y administrativos que consideran vulnerada su condición en las actuales circunstancias, las directivas que están conminadas a cumplir las condiciones de acreditación, los dignatarios distritales desde el Consejo y la Alcaldía y los del orden nacional que consideran la educación pública como un fin; todos a una como en Fuente ovejuna, nos disponemos a reformar. ¿Estamos de acuerdo? Pero la reforma debe hacerse en los mejores términos. No es una arquitectura simple la que se debe transformar. Muchos apenas nos asomamos al andamiaje y otros tantos ni siquiera lo han hecho. Perviven las fuerzas que jalonan cambios inconsultos, al igual que una tradición que se afinca en los resultados de la Consultiva, que algunos quisiéramos que fuera simplemente acatada. Aunque no se desconoce que ha pasado más de un lustro desde que formuló su estatuto general y todo lo que podía ocurrir desde entonces ha ocurrido, al menos habría de ser consultada. El ambiente tendría que ser favorable para una reforma democrática.

From different angles, the need to reform the District University has been raised. The students that faced the reform of Law 30 with the MANE, the teachers and administrative staff that consider their condition violated in the current circumstances, the directives that are bound to meet the accreditation conditions, the district dignitaries from the Council and the Mayor's Office and those of the national order that consider public education as an end; all to one as in Fuente ovejuna, we are preparing to reform. We agree? But the reform must be done on the best terms. It is not a simple architecture that must be transformed. Many of us barely peeked into the scaffolding and many others have not even done so. The forces that mark unchanged changes survive, as well as a tradition that is rooted in the results of the Consultative, that some of us would like it to be simply obeyed. Although it is not known that it has been more than five years since he formulated his general statute and everything that could have happened since then has occurred, at least it should be consulted. The environment should be favorable for a democratic reform.
