    The text is dedicated to the sociolinguistic problem of the feminization of the Portuguese language in Mozambique.

    First, it will clarify the position of Portuguese in Mozambique and state what, from a social point of view, is the position of women in Mozambican society. Next, it will deal with the topic of gender as a grammatical category and the phenomenon of linguistic feminization as both a lexical and sociolinguistic issue, explaining how the feminization of language, that is, the greater visibility of the female sex in it, serves not only to reflect but also to influence social evolution. Then, based on a corpus of journalistic texts, it will try to show whether in Mozambican Portuguese we can notice any tendency to feminize the language, coming to the conclusion that, with regard to this topic, for now Mozambican Portuguese has a rather conservative character.

    O texto dedicar-se-á à problemática sociolinguística da feminização da língua portuguesa em Moçambique.

    Primeiro, esclarecerá qual é a posição do português em Moçambique e qual é, do ponto de vista social, a posição da mulher na sociedade moçambicana. A seguir, abordará a problemática do género como uma categoria gramatical e do fenómeno da feminização linguística como um fenómeno tanto lexical como sociolinguístico, explicando como a feminização da língua, ou seja, a maior visibilidade do sexo feminino nela, serve não só para refletir mas também para influenciar a evolução social. Depois, na base dum corpus de textos jornalísticos, tentará verificar se em português moçambicano podemos notar alguma tendência para feminizar a língua, chegando à conclusão que, perante esta problemática, para já o português moçambicano apresenta caráter antes conservador.
