    Los menores tienen derecho a vivir en compañía de sus padres afectados por una discapacidad, a quienes se reconoce el derecho a elegir y recibir el apoyo necesario para ejercer responsablemente la patria potestad sin discriminación. El apoyo se presta integrando la voluntad del titular de la patria potestad con discapacidad con el primordial interés del menor, sin que pueda renunciar al apoyo cuando dicho interés se ve comprometido. Hablar de apoyo es hablar de su ilimitada variedad, presupuesto que el apoyo recibido sin ser necesario se convierte en una auténtica limitación para la persona que lo recibe. De otro lado, resulta imprescindible la supresión de la patria potestad prorrogada y rehabilitada por su falta de coherencia con el sistema de apoyos. Esta supresión favorece el ejercicio del derecho del adulto con discapacidad a una vida independiente.

    All children have the right to live with their parents affected by a disability, who recognized the right to choose and to receive the necessary support to exercise responsibly parental authority without discrimination. To speak of support is to speak of its unlimited variety, assuming that the support received without being necessary becomes a real limitation for the person who receives it. On the other hand, it is essential to the removal of extended and rehabilitated parental authority for its lack of consistency with the system supports.
