Los criterios en conservación y restauración del siglo XX, en el contexto mediterráneo, a las puertas del nuevo siglo ¿Idoneidad o necesidad de redefinición?

    En este artículo se analizan los principales criterios que han prevalecido y determinado las intervenciones en conservación y restauración en el transcurso del siglo XX, muchos de los cuales continúan teniendo amplia vigencia en nuestros días. Por lo general, la mayoría de estos criterios ponían el acento en la consideración del objeto histórico-artístico, cuya consistencia o soporte físico articulaba los axiomas que dictaban el proceso de intervención. De ahí la preeminencia de valores como la originalidad, la autenticidad o la objetividad, que tradicionalmente han guiado el proceso de intervención en conservación y restauración. Sin embargo, la tendencia actual hacia la consideración de la multiplicidad de factores que intervienen en el proceso de preservación y transmisión patrimonial obliga a hacer una revisión de los criterios tradicionales para valorar su idoneidad en nuestro tiempo. Desde nuestra consideración, la actuación en conservación y restauración actual es inseparable, por un lado, de un mayor reconocimiento del componente simbólico, expresivo y comunicativo asociado a los bienes culturales y, por otro, de la consiguiente necesidad de considerar en este proceso a los diferentes agentes sociales que intervienen en este diálogo en torno al bien cultural, que no puede ser obviado por los especialistas en la materia.

    In this article we will analyze the principal criteria that have prevailed and determined the interventions in conservation and restoration in the course of the 20th century, many of which continue being widely upheld nowadays. In general, the majority of these criteria focused on the historical-artistic object, making its consistency and physical support the determining factor in the process of intervention. is gives preeminence to values such as ü, authenticity and objectivity that traditionally have guided the process of intervention in conservation and restoration. Nevertheless, the current consideration of multiple factors, which intervene in the process of preservation and patrimonial, calls for a review of these traditional criteria in order to evaluate their suitability in our own time. From our consideration, the actions taken in conservation and restoration are inseparable nowadays. On the one hand, there is a greater recognition of the symbolic, expressive and communicative factor in cultural property and, on the other, the consequent need to consider the di erent social agents involved in this process. These agents intervene in this dialogue referring to cultural property and cannot be ignored by the specialists concerned.
