Resumen de Contribuciones a la instrucción cívica desde la provincia: los libros del profesor Negrete a principios del siglo XX

  En este escrito presentamos el análisis de dos libros escolares de instrucción cívica. Nuestra pregunta central es ¿cómo se producen esos libros? Para dar respuesta analizamos el contexto en el que se insertan, la trayectoria del autor y la circulación y apropiación de conocimientos pedagógicos en esa época.  La perspectiva teórica que sustenta nuestro trabajo se ubica en el cruce entre la historia cultural y la nueva biografía. Las fuentes de información utilizadas incluyen expedientes del profesor José Vicente Negrete, resguardados en archivos de la ciudad de Guadalajara, documentos oficiales, periódicos y libros de la época. Para el análisis recurrimos a la triangulación y a la comparación. Entre los hallazgos destacamos el papel mediador que desempeñaron algunos maestros de provincia en el vínculo entre las formulaciones pedagógicas de las élites y las prácticas de enseñanza, y su rol como productores de materiales para facilitar el trabajo docente, actividades que se dan en un ambiente de renovación pedagógica impulsada por los diferentes niveles de gobiernos, entre finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, los cuales vieron en la educación un medio para modernizar y civilizar a la población.

  This paper presents an analysis of two Civic Education school textbooks. The study aims to answer the following question: How were these books produced? This was done through searching for the context under which these books were produced, the author’s background and the circulation and appropriation of pedagogical knowledge at that time. The theoretical perspective of this work lies at the crossroads of cultural history and the new biography. For the study’s analysis, we resorted to the method of triangulation and comparison. The sources of information in the study included Professor José Vicente Negrete’s official documents, newspapers and books. These documents can be found in Negrete’s personal library files located in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Findings from this study suggest that, at the end of the 19th Century and at the beginning of the 20th Century, in a pedagogical renewal climate promoted by the different levels of governments as a means to modernize and civilize the population, some provincial teachers played a fundamental mediating role in the link between the pedagogical formulations of the elites and the teaching practices of the time, and as producers of educative materials to facilitate teaching work and activities.
