Representaciones sociales del docente sobre las expresiones de género en estudiantes de primaria

    El objetivo de este proyecto fue conocer las Representaciones Sociales (RS) de las expresiones de género que han construido algunos docentes en el nivel de educación primaria en la Ciudad de México. Se trató de una pesquisa descriptiva de corte cualitativo. Para responder a la pregunta de investigación, utilizamos la entrevista semiestructurada y el test de frases incompletas. Participaron 12 docentes de escuelas primarias públicas de jornada regular. Dentro de los principales hallazgos, encontramos que existe una tendencia a asociar al género con las características estereotipadas que distinguen a hombres y mujeres. Estas RS han sido ampliamente aceptadas en nuestra sociedad y muchas veces han servido para justificar la asignación de roles sociales, produciendo, así, estereotipos. Sin embargo, nuestros resultados también indican que, como sociedad, nos encontramos en un proceso paulatino de reestructuración de pensamiento en torno al género.

    The aim of this study was to explore the Social Representations (SR) of elementary school teachers about their students’ gender expressions. We carried out a descriptive and qualitative research in Mexico City. To answer the research question, we used a semistructured interview and the sentence completion test. Twelve public elementary school teachers participated.

    Prominent among our main findings is the tendency to associate gender with the stereotyped characteristics that distinguish men and women.

    These RSs have been widely accepted in our society and many times they have served to justify the assignment of social roles, thus producing stereotypes. However, our results indicate that as a society, we are in a gradual process of restructuring our thinking around gender.
