    Las nuevas tecnologías digitales son una formidable herramienta de análisis al servicio de la investigación del teatro del Siglo de Oro, tanto en su faceta textual como espectacular. En esta última faceta, constituyen un extraordinario instrumento para confirmar, ratificar o corregir las soluciones muchas veces más o menos hipotéticas formuladas por la crítica, debido a carecer de datos o de los medios idóneos. Al mismo tiempo, son un medio de divulgación muy potente. De aquí, que cuanto más fieles en el análisis de los hechos y rigurosos seamos, nuestra aproximación reflejará mejor la realidad que fue el teatro en su propio contexto. Como reza su título, en este trabajo nos ocuparemos solo del teatro en su faceta espectacular, dejando a un lado dentro de lo posible su inseparable faceta textual. En este camino ya comenzado, convencidos de su eficacia, se ha avanzado a una velocidad extraordinaria, hasta el punto de que se impone la necesidad de un estado de la cuestión, al que dedicaremos la parte final de la exposición, ciñéndonos al teatro áureo español como espectáculo, el tema tratado.

    New digital technologies are formidable analytic tools to research Spanish Golden Age theater, both as text and as performance. They also represent an extraordinary instrument to confirm, ratify, or correct the hypothetical solutions to problems of how performance took place that scholars have often presented since they lacked the ideal data or resources. At the same time, these digital technologies represent a powerful way to communicate research results.

    Therefore, the more faithful and rigorous we are to the analysis of facts, the better our study will be of the reality of this theater in its context. As the title of this paper states, we will focus on theater as performance and leave aside its textual component. Convinced of its efficiency, scholars have greatly advanced in this research path, to the point that a state of the matter is required, which we will offer in the final part of this paper by focusing on Spanish Golden Age theater as spectacle
