  Sulayman ben Harit al-Quti (Alcoati) escribió uno de los libros de oftalmología más consultados de la Baja Edad Media. Escrito en lengua árabe Kitab al uyun (siglo XII), fue traducido al catalán (siglo XIV), al latín (siglo XIV); al alemán (1898); finalmente, el tratado quinto fue traducido al castellano (1973). Los textos latinos fueron comentados en alemán y en francés. Del original árabe, perdido en África, se conserva la «quinta maqala» en la Biblioteca de El Escorial; el manuscrito catalán se conserva en la Biblioteca Capitular de la Seo de Zaragoza, que fue publicado en 1933 por Lluis Deztany; los manuscritos latinos se conservan en las bibliotecas de Erfurt (Alemania); en Metz, Carpentras y Montpellier (Francia).

  Alcoati wrote one of the most read ophthalmology books in Late Middle Ages. Written in the Arabic language Kitab al uyun (12th century), it was translated into Catalan (14th century), to the Latin (14th century); to German (1898); finally the fifth treatise was translated into Spanish (1973). The Latin texts were studied in German, and in French. From the original Arabic, lost in Africa, the «Quinta Maqala» (the fifth treatise) is preserved in the Library of El Escorial; the Catalan manuscript is conserved in the Library of La Seo de Zaragoza, which was published in 1933 by Lluis Deztany; Latin manuscripts are kept in the libraries of Mezt and Erfurt (Germany); Carpentras and Montpellier (France).
