Análisis del perfil motivador y actitudinal sobre el aprendizaje de idiomas de los estudiantes en Educación Superior: aplicación del Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB)

    Este artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación sobre la motivación, actitud e interés que manifiesta el alumnado universitario hacia el aprendizaje de idiomas. Se ha realizado un estudio descriptivo mediante encuesta a través de un muestreo probabilístico por conglomerados. La muestra la conforman 689 estudiantes de los Grados en Educación Infantil, Educación Primaria, Ingeniería Informática y Medicina de la Universidad de Sevilla, abarcando el 48% de los matriculados en 2º curso en el año 2019/20. Se ha llevado a cabo un análisis de datos descriptivo de porcentajes, medias y desviaciones típicas, pruebas de Kruskall-Wallis y correlaciones de Pearson. Los resultados señalan, en la línea de los trabajos previos, que el aprendizaje de idiomas es abordado por los estudiantes universitarios con una buena actitud y motivación, pero se constatan diferencias en función de la titulación, de su futuro profesional y de la necesidad de dominar un idioma. Una de las conclusiones más destacables es que el alumnado de Ciencias de la Educación tiene un perfil menos motivado que los estudiantes de Medicina e Ingeniería Informática, sobresaliendo esta última titulación por encima de las demás. Además, el alumnado en general es consciente de que aprende otros idiomas por motivos académico-profesionales, pero no de que lo hacen con fines globalizadores.

    This article presents the outcome of an investigation on the motivation, attitude and interest of the university students towards language learning. A descriptive survey has been carried out through a cluster-type probability sampling. The sample is integrated of 689 students in the Degrees of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Computer Engineering and Medicine at the University of Seville, which covers the 48% of the enrolled students in 2nd year for the 2019/20 course. A descriptive data analysis of percentages, means and standard deviations, Kruskall-Wallis tests and Pearson correlations has been carried out. The results state, in consistence with previous works, the fact the students approach language learning with a high attitude and motivation. However, differences are noted depending on the degree, their professional future and the need to master a language. One of the most relevant conclusions of this study is that students of Educational Sciences have a less motivated profile than students of Medicine and Computer Engineering, standing out this last mentioned degree above the others. In addition, students are generally aware that they are learning other languages due to academic-professional reasons, but not for the purpose of globalization.
