    En líneas generales se suele afirmar que los libros de horas son el fiel reflejo de la sensibilidad religiosa canalizada a través de la devotio moderna. Estas propuestas espirituales, enunciadas por teólogos y moralistas coetáneos, recomendaban el rezo a través de un tipo de oración interiorizada y silenciosa efectuada en un lugar recoleto, con el estómago vacío a determinadas horas del día. Sin embargo, el análisis de un conjunto de libros de horas iluminados en la Corona de Aragón revela la inclusión de oraciones que eran invocadas durante la celebración del oficio litúrgico. La presencia de estas oraciones demuestra que los libros de horas de la Corona de Aragón, del mismo modo que otros libros de horas iluminados más allá de los Pirineos, podían contener un conjunto de plegarias cuya función consistía en ser recitadas a la vez que se oficiaba el culto divino. La existencia de indicaciones precisas sobre las acciones que debía realizar el fiel cuando entraba en el interior de una iglesia ratifica esta función. Con este estudio se pretende analizar, por vez primera, esta faceta un tanto ignorada de los libros de horas iluminados en el Principado de Cataluña y en los reinos de Valencia y Aragón.

    It is generally accepted that the books of hours are primarily the faithful reflection of the religious sensitivity channeled through the devotio moderna. These spiritual proposals, enunciated by contemporaneous theologians and moralists, recommended praying through a type of internalized and silent prayer carried out in a secluded place, with an empty stomach at certain times of the day. However, the analysis of a set of illuminated books of hours in the Crown of Aragon reveals the inclusion of prayers that were invoked during the celebration of the liturgy. The presence of these prayers demonstrates that the books of hours of the Crown of Aragon, in the same way as other books of hours, illuminated beyond the Pyrenees, could contain a set of prayers whose function was to be recited while officiating the divine worship. The existence of precise indications about the actions that the faithful should perform when entering inside a church ratifies this function. This study intends to analyze, for the first time, this somewhat ignored facet of the illuminated books of hours in the Principality of Catalonia and in the kingdoms of Valencia and Aragon
