Resumen de La represión durante la revuelta popular de octubre: Prácticas y discursos en torno a la policialización del conflicto social en Chile

La revuelta popular iniciada en octubre de 2019 es el evento histórico más relevante en Chile desde el fin de la dictadura militar en 1990. Millones de personas salieron a las calles a manifestarse contra el sistema político y el modelo económico heredados del régimen autoritario de Pinochet, enfrentándose a una represión cuyos niveles de violencia significaron masivas violaciones a los derechos humanos de la sociedad civil. En este trabajo buscamos ofrecer algunas claves explicativas den cuenta de las continuidades y los quiebres que dieron forma a este proceso, identificando y analizando los repertorios represivos ejecutados por los agentes estatales, y dando cuenta, en definitiva, de la articulación de prácticas materiales y recursos simbólico-discursivos en el proceso de policialización del conflicto social, estrategia que adoptó el Estado para hacer frente a un alzamiento popular de dimensiones nunca antes vistas en la historia de Chile.

The social protests that began in October 2019 is the most relevant historical event in Chile since the end of the military dictatorship in 1990. Millions of people took to the streets to manifest against the political system and the economic model inherited from the authoritarian regime of Pinochet, facing a repression whose levels of violence meant massive human rights violations towards the civil society. In this paper we seek to offer some explanatory keys to account for the continuities and breaks that shaped this process, identifying and analyzing the repressive repertoires executed by state agents, and ultimately accounting for the articulation of material practices and symbolic-discursive resources in the process of “policialization of the social conflict”, a strategy adopted by the State to face a popular uprising of dimensions never before seen in the history of Chile.
