El texto aborda los principales argumentos que Molly Smith y Juno Mac esgrimen en contra de la legalización y la criminalización —bien sea parcial, total o la alternativa nórdica— del trabajo sexual y a favor de la descriminalización. La tesis principal de las autoras es que solo este último modelo asegura los derechos laborales de las trabajadoras sexuales. Aunque en ocasiones pueden llegar a sobredimensionar el impacto positivo del cambio legislativo hacia la descriminalización, Smith y Mac presentan argumentos convincentes, en especial cuando urgen al público a pensar en el trabajo sexual, no desde lo que simboliza, sino desde los impactos materiales que puede tener sobre aquellas que lo ejercen.

The text introduces the main arguments developed by Molly Smith and Juno Mac against the legalization and criminalization of sex work -weather it be partial, total or the nordic model- and in favor of decriminalization. The main theses put forth by the authors is that only the last model guarantees labor rights for sex workers. Even though they might overstate the positive impact of legislative change towards decriminalization, Smith and Mac present convincing arguments, especially when they urge the public to think about sex work not through what it may simbolize, but from the standpoint of the material outcome it has over those who engage in it.
