Resumen de Clima, desastre y respuestas sociales: las grandes inundaciones del siglo XVII en Orihuela

En este trabajo se analizan las principales inundaciones en la Orihuela del siglo XVII. Para llevar a cabo este estudio se han utilizado las actas de los cabildos oriolanos, tanto el municipal como el catedralicio. Esta fuente nos permite conocer por un lado los impactos materiales que tuvieron estos acontecimientos, y por otro los tipos de respuesta sociopolítica que los cabildos disponían para tratar de mitigar los efectos adversos del tiempo extremo. Analizando las distintas respuestas podemos observar cuáles eran los principales intereses de ambos cabildos, el civil y el religioso, siendo la agricultura y la propiedad los elementos más protegidos por ambos actores.

In this work analyzes the main floods in Orihuela in the 17th century. To be able to perform this study, the acts of the Orihuela councils, both municipal and cathedral, have been used. This source allows us to know, the material impacts that these events had, and on the other type of sociopolitical response than the available councils to try to mitigate the adverse effects of extreme weather. Analyzing the different responses, we can observe the differences between the main interests of both councils, civil and religious, agriculture and the property of the elements most protected by both actors.
