En este trabajo se analizan algunas claves del servicio a la Inquisición española desarrollado por el agente Juan Bautista Vives en el cambiante y complejo escenario de las relaciones entre la Monarquía hispana y el papado. Sin duda, su principal objetivo vital fue la defensa y difusión de la fe católica. Sin embargo, su labor en la Curia estuvo principalmente orientada a la defensa de la jurisdicción inquisitorial frente a los recursos presentados ante el papa.

This paper analyzes some keys to the service to the Spanish Inquisition developed by agent Juan Bautista Vives in the changing and complex scenario of relations between the Hispanic Monarchy and the papacy. His main objective the defense and dissemination of the Catholic faith. However, his work in the Curia was mainly orinted to the defense of the inquisitorial jurisdiction against the resources presented before the pope.
