En la primera parte del artículo se subraya el valor y la vigencia del Texto de 1978 como constitución del consenso que permitió resolver los grandes problemas históricos que habían dividido a los españoles durante los últimos doscientos años. Tomando como premisa el valor de la Constitución, en la segunda se exponen las razones por las que la reforma constitucional es la gran asignatura pendiente. El carácter problemático de la reforma reside en que en España no somos capaces de distinguir entre reforma (cambio limitado) y destrucción constitucional (cambio que no respeta límite alguno).
In the first part, the article explains the value and validity of the 1978 Text as a consensus constitution that enabled a solution to the great historical problems that had divided the Spaniards over the previous two hundred years. Taking as a premise the value of the Constitution, the second part examines the reasons why the constitutional reform is problematic. The problematic character of the reform stems from the fact that in Spain we are not able to distinguish between reform (limited change) and constitutional destruction (change that does not respect any limit).
