Cantinas escolares municipales de San Sebastián. Su creación, desarrollo e influencia en la alimentación infantil

    “Las Cantinas Escolares” constituyeron una institución que se desarrolló en España en los primeros años del siglo XX. Fue una iniciativa filantrópica, insertada en el movimiento regeneracionista, que estaba interesado por la infancia, la higiene y sanidad escolar.

    San Sebastián fue una de las primeras capitales españolas que contó con ese servicio.

    Fue impulsado por la “Sociedad Protectora de las Cantinas Escolares de San Sebastián”, con el apoyo del Ayuntamiento Donostiarra. Se revisan las características, formación de las nuevas cantinas, características de admisión, evolución de las mismas y se realiza una comparación con las Cantinas de Bilbao, menos desarrolladas en aquellos años.

    “The school canteens” was an institution that developed in Spain in the early years of the 20th century. It was a philanthropic initiative, inserted in the regeneration movement, of growing interest in childhood, hygiene and school health.

    San Sebastián was one of the first Spanish capitals to have this service. It was promoted by the “Society for the Protection of the School Canteens of San Sebastián”, with the support of the Donostiarra City Council. The characteristics, formation of the new canteens, admission characteristics and its evolution are reviewed and a comparison is made with the Cantinas of Bilbao, less developed in those years.

    “Eskola-kantinak” XX. mendearen lehen urteetan Espainian garatu zen erakundea izan zen. Mugimendu birsortzailean txertatuako ekimen filantropikoa izan zen eta haurtzaroan, higienean eta eskola-osasunarean zuen interesa.

    “Sociedad Protectora de las Cantinas Escolares de San Sebastián” elkarteak bultzatuta eta Donostiko Udalaren laguntzarekin, hiri hau izan zen, hain zuzen ere, zerbitzu hori izan zuen Espainiako lehen hiriburuetariko bat. Kantina berrien eta eraketa onarpen ezaugarriak eta bere bilakaera berrikusten dira, eta urte haietan gutxiago garatu ziren Bilboko kantinekin alderatzen da.
