    Historically, migration movements have always been influenced by great socio-economic and geopolitical mutations such as decolonization or globalization. Confronted to these evolutions in a postcolonial context, the Caribbean is searching for strategies which could grapple the challenges brought forward through the notions of migration, identity and development.

    These issues are today at the center of the development of the anglophone small island state of Dominica; but also internationally with the various publications of the United Nations on this thematic through its Global Forum on Migration and Development.

    Since her accession to independence in 1978, the Commonwealth of Dominica experiences an ongoing social and economic development, although very frequently interrupted by natural disasters. If the capital and structural contribution of international superpowers such as Taiwan, China, or Venezuela has contributed and continues to fuel the development of the island, since the last decade the different governments have also put their hope in the potentialities of the diaspora. We are witnessing a mutation of the relations between the mother country and its diaspora in a context of understanding the key role it can play in an economic, social and human sustainable development. What are therefore the social integration strategies of the small state of Dominica in favour of its diaspora since 2000? How are the latest governmental strategies significant of the evolution of the cultural representation of the Dominican diaspora?

    Du point de vue des historiens, les mouvements migratoires sont toujours influencés par de grandes mutations socio-économiques et géopolitiques comme la décolonisation ou encore la mondialisation de l’économie. Confrontée à ces évolutions, la Caraïbe postcoloniale cherche des stratégies qui apportent des réponses à la question du lien entre migration, identitaire et développement.

    Cette problématique se retrouve aujourd’hui au cœur du projet de société du petit Etat de la Caraïbe anglophone, la Dominique; mais aussi au niveau international comme en témoignent les différents travaux de l’ONU sur cette thématique via son Forum Mondial sur les migrations et le développement.

    Le Commonwealth of Dominica connaît, depuis son accession à la souveraineté en 1978, un développement social et économique continu mais très souvent interrompu par des catastrophes naturelles. Si l’apport de grandes puissances internationales, telles que Taiwan, la Chine ou encore le Venezuela, continue de contribuer au développement structurel de l’île, depuis cette dernière décennie les dirigeants fondent aussi leurs attentes et besoins sur le potentiel diasporique. Nous assistons à une mutation des relations entre le pays d’origine et sa diaspora dans un contexte de prise de conscience du rôle clé que peut avoir cette dernière pour un développement humain, économique et social durable. Quelles sont donc les stratégies d’intégration sociale du petit Etat de la Dominique en faveur de sa diaspora, depuis son entrée dans le troisième millénaire (2000-20014)? En quoi les récentes stratégies gouvernementales sont significatives de l’évolution de la représentation culturelle de la diaspora dominiquaise
