    En el presente ensayo, se ha emprendido analizar las relaciones que los habitantes de Potosí, la ciudad más opulenta del mundo después del descubrimiento del fabuloso yacimiento de plata en 1542, establecieron con los pobres y la pobreza durante ciertas épocas de su historia.

    Durante el período de prosperidad, el respeto del deber de la Caridad simbolizó el vínculo privilegiado con Dios, así como una manera de ostentar sus riquezas. Cuando vino el declive, les permitió comulgar en el recuerdo nostálgico de un pasado mitificado.

    In this study we have tried to analyze the relations that their inhabitants of Potosí, the wealthiest city in the word after the discovery of the fantastic silver deposit in 1541 established with the poor and poverty at different period of the history.

    During the period do prosperity, respecting the duty of charity symbolized the privileged tie with God they were so proud of and which enabled them to show their wealth. When decline came, il helped them pray in the nostalgic memory of a mythified past.
