El artículo inscribe Del arte de la guerra en la obra de Maquiavelo, reconoce sus interlocutores pasados y contemporáneos y comprende su análisis sobre la guerra y asuntos militares en su contexto histórico. También relaciona la lectura e interpretación del libro con los problemas y desafíos que enfrentan académicos, militares y decisores políticos en relación con la defensa nacional y su instrumento militar en la Argentina actual.

The article inscribes The Art of War in Machiavelli's work, recognizes his past and contemporary interlocutors and understands his analysis of war and military affairs in its historical context. It also relates the reading and interpretation of the book to the problems and challenges faced by academics, military and political decision-makers in relation to national defense and its military instrument in current Argentina. Reading this book of Florentine –one of the least studied of his work– from the current political and intellectual coordinates, requires overpowering his mere interpretation as a manual of military strategy and tactics. It also demands to understand its conception of war by recognizing the obvious differences that exist with our past, present and future.
