Este trabajo pretende ofrecer una visión general sobre el miedo a la Inquisición en Castilla durante el reinado de los Reyes Católicos. Se han utilizado diversos procesos incoados contra criptojudíos, que permiten analizar las diversas manifestaciones del miedo que provocaba el Santo Oficio en aquellos que eran susceptibles de convertirse en su objetivo. Asimismo, se ofrecen algunas claves para entender la «pedagogía del miedo» de que se valía la Inquisición, así como el uso de ese miedo por parte de los soberanos.

This study presents an overview on the issue of fear of the Inquisition in Castile during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs. Various trials filed against crypto-Jews have been used to examine the manifold manifestations of fear instilled by the Holy Office in those who were likely to become its target. Furthermore, some keys will be advanced in order to understand the «pedagogy of fear» utilized by the Inquisition, as well as the use of that fear by the sovereigns.
