Resumen de Del monumento al paisaje cultural: evolución de la protección jurídica del patrimonio construido

Este artículo pretende recoger los cambios experimentados por el concepto de patrimonio cultural, desde la Ilustración hasta el siglo XXI, y cómo se refleja esa evolución en las normas jurídicas destinadas a su protección. Se presta especial atención a las obras de ingeniería, en un principio sólo valoradas en su aspecto monumental, mientras que, a partir del último tercio del siglo XX, se aprecian también su valor técnico, su inclusión en el territorio y su capacidad para modificar el mismo, en conexión con los paisajes culturales.

This article aims to show the changes suffered by the concept of cultural heritage, from the Enlightment to the XXIst century, and the way this evolution is reflected upon the legal rules designed to protect this heritage. The focus is put on the works of engineering, firstly valued only for being monumental, and that since the 1970 decade had been appreciated for their technical aspect, their connection with the territory and their capacity to modify it, related to cultural landscapes.
