    A banda de les classes explicatives, hi ha altres metodologies tan o més eficients per a l'aprenentatge de la química. El paper actiu dels estudiants afavoreix l'aprenentatge, però, a banda de la participació de l'estudiant, la motivació d'aquest i la manera d'avaluar-lo són cabdals.

    En el nou context europeu, si bé l'aprenentatge cooperatiu té interès en l'adquisició de les competències específiques de la química, o d'altres matèries, també fomenta l'adquisició de competències genèriques, com ara el treball en equip, la responsabilitat, el fet d'aprendre a organitzar- se, de liderar equips o de comunicar-se eficientment.

    When learning chemistry, there are teaching methods which are the same as or more efficient than theory classes. The students’ active role, for instance, improves their learning, but it is not the only thing: motivation and assessment are also relevant.

    In the new European context, co-operative learning plays an important role in the acquisition of specific competences in chemistry and also in other subjects. Furthermore, co-operative learning also encourages general competences such as team work, responsibility, organization, team leading and efficient communication.
