¿Palo del Ahorcado o Árbol de la Vida? Una autoetnografía sobre la Masculinidad Tóxica y las Nuevas Masculinidades en un Barrio de Ciudad Bolívar

    Ciudad Bolívar (localidad diecinueve de Bogotá), ha sido catalogada como un territorio en la periferia de la capital marginalizado, pobre y violento. No obstante, poco se ha investigado sobre los tipos de violencia que aquejan a sus habitantes y, mucho menos se han expuesto otras visiones de este lugar que habito hace más de veinte años. Por esta razón, hago uso de mi voz como psicóloga, mujer, amiga, hija y habitante de Ciudad Bolívar para aportar con esta investigación al debate sobre el costo humano de la pobreza, la violencia de género y las demás formas de violencia que, desde la cotidianidad, reproducen y mantienen la desigualdad en mi territorio. Más aún, pretendo, por un lado, visibilizar las condiciones estructurales de violencia y su relación con la violencia de género, siendo la masculinidad tóxica un factor que destruye el tejido social; y por el otro, visibilizar las acciones transformadoras de quienes habitamos este territorio y que construyen el tejido social, como las apuestas de algunos hombres por las nuevas masculinidades. Para ello elegí una aproximación metodológica que me permitiera acercarme a las sensibilidades culturales y a la intimidad de nuestras vidas: la autoetnografía.

    Ciudad Bolivar (nineteenth locality of Bogotá) has been classified as a marginalized, poor and violent periphery territory in the capital. However, little has been investigated about the types of violence afflicting its inhabitants, and even fewer studies present other visions of this place I have inhabited for over twenty years. For this reason, I use my voice as a psychologist, woman, friend, daughter, and inhabitant of Ciudad Bolivar to contribute with this research to the debate about the human cost of poverty, gender-based violence, and other forms of violence that, from everyday life, reproduce and maintain inequality in my territory. Furthermore, I intend, on the one hand, to make visible the structural conditions of violence and its relationship to gender-based violence, with toxic masculinity being a factor that destroys the social fabric; and on the other hand, to make visible the transformative actions of those of us who inhabit this territory and who build the social fabric, such as the bets of some men on new masculinities. To do this, I chose a methodological approach that allowed me to approach cultural sensitivities and the intimacy of our lives: autoethnography.
