  Ambivalence is a seminal category in Hé- lio Oiticica’s artistic proposals and theo- retical texts, since the theory of the pa- rangolé until the ambiental manifesta- tions and their developments, made per- fectly explicit in the ambiental project Tropicália , and in the relationships he established with the production of the group of popular music from Bahia.

  Am- bivalence is also a critical procedure that refers to the elaborations of Oswald de Andrade’s antropophagy and that guided the creative processes and the political dimension of a significative set of activi- ties that emerged simultaneously in the years 1967 - 68, and that defined a specific position, dissonan t in regard to the most evident relationships between aesthetics and politics of the 1960s, questioning the then fixed conflitous opposition between artistic and social inconformism
