El sueño de multiplicar la cota cero. Oportunidad o refugio

    La construcción en altura siempre ha afrontado como uno de sus mayores desafíos la relación con el suelo y el interés por trasladarlo más allá de la rasante de la ciudad. En un tiempo en el que las ciudades superpobladas requieren construirse verticalmente a una escala masiva y de gran densidad, resulta oportuno rescatar una serie de proyectos que imaginaron formas de reproducir en las alturas la cota más pública y social de la ciudad, imitando sus condiciones espaciales y ambientales. Megaestructuras que soñaron con acercar literalmente la calle y la plaza a las nubes, produciendo elevaciones de estratos urbanos a varios metros de la masa de la Tierra para crear una ciudad multi-cota cero. Este artículo revisará unas acciones arquitectónicas que, agrupadas bajo tres estrategias de proyecto, buscaron la multiplicación radical de la cota cero elevando lo social y lo relacional en bandejas elevadas lejos de la rasante. Unos suelos aéreos que pueden ser entendidos como lugares de oportunidad para humanizar la ciudad vertical, o como espacios de refugio y desconexión de una ciudad congestionada. Las tres estrategias analizadas en el texto serán la estantería de villas a modo de soporte arquitectónico, la ubicación de pulmones semiabiertos como plazas o parques repartidos en altura y fragmentos de ciudades desraizados de la corteza terrestre y elevados a cientos de metros.

    The vertical construction has always faced as one of its greatest challenges the relationship with the ground and the interest in moving it beyond the ground level of the city. At a time when overcrowded cities need to be built vertically on a massive scale and with great density, it is appropriate to rescue a series of projects that imagined ways of reproducing the most public and social level of the city in the heights, imitating its spatial and environmental conditions. Megastructures that dreamed of literally bringing the street and the square closer to the clouds, producing elevations of urban strata several meters from the mass of the Earth to create a multi-ground zero city. This article will review some architectural actions that, grouped under three project strategies, sought the radical multiplication of the zero level by raising the social and the relational in raised trays far from the ground level. Some aerial landforms that can be understood as places of opportunity to humanize the vertical city, or as spaces of refuge and disconnection from a congested city. The three strategies analyzed in the text will be the shelving of villas as an architectural support, the location of semi-open lungs such as squares or parks distributed in height and fragments of cities uprooted from the earth’s crust and elevated to hundreds of meters.
