El valor del ser humano nace de su propia naturaleza como tal y no de las circunstancias, por tanto, el concepto de dignidad se materializa como principal elemento a tener en cuenta durante el proceso de relación asistencial. El concepto de dignidad y su significado ha evolucionado al compás de los tiempos y al cambio de mentalidad y evolución del pensamiento humano y es necesario hacer un recorri-do histórico por la evolución de tal concepto para poder abarcar en su totalidad su significado, importancia y el concepto actual del mismo.

The value of the human being is born from his own nature as such and not from the circumstances, therefore, the concept of dignity ma-terializes as the main element to take into account during the care relationship process. The concept of dignity and its meaning has evol-ved to the beat of the times and to the change of mentality and evolution of human thought and it is necessary to make a historical jour-ney through the evolution of such a concept in order to fully encompass its meaning, importance and concept.
