  A partir de una revisión documental de artículos de prensa, reportes de organismos internacionales y nacionales de literatura académica e investigaciones cualitativas, el artículo reflexiona en torno a la participación de las ciencias sociales cubanas en el enfrentamiento a la pandemia de la COVID-19. Para alcanzar tal fin en primer lugar se realiza una aproximación al contexto actual donde se manifiesta la epidemia a nivel nacional. Se finaliza exponiendo la participación de las ciencias sociales en el enfrentamiento a la COVID-19 donde la sociedad cubana actual posibilita tal aportación. Se concluye que existen potencialidades, en el contexto cubano actual, para que las ciencias sociales aporten nuevos conocimientos científicos y explicaciones que tributen al enfrentamiento a esta pandemia y a sus efectos sociales, económicos y políticos.

  Based on a documentary review of press articles, reports from international and national organizations, academic literature and qualitative research, the article reflects on the participation of the Cuban social sciences in the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this end, first of all, an approach is made to the current context where the epidemic is manifested at the national level. It ends by exposing the participation of the social sciences in the confrontation with COVID-19 where current Cuban society makes such a contribution possible. It is concluded that there are potentialities, in the current Cuban context, for the Social Sciences to provide new scientific knowledge and explanations that contribute to confronting this pandemic and its social, economic and political effects.
