    El presente artículo pretende abordar la Historia institucional de Gibraltar, desde su captura por los británicos en 1704 hasta nuestros días. Para ello, invita al lector a hacer un recorrido que echa a andar en 1704 (o, más propiamente, en 1817, con la aparición de la Exchange and Commercial Library, que se convertiría en la primera institución oficiosa nacida de la iniciativa de la propia sociedad civil llanita) y termina en nuestros días, marcados por la consolidación del régimen político gibraltareño a raíz de la aprobación de su actual Orden Constitucional de 2006. Terminado ese recorrido, se abordará sumariamente el régimen local de España y de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía, con la pretensión de determinar si realmente el Estado y la Autonomía están preparados para el desafío que supondría la reincorporación del Peñón a la realidad española y andaluza

    This article is intended to address the institutional History of Gibraltar, from its capture by the British in 1704 to the present day. Whit this objective, it invites the reader to take a tour that began in 1704 (or, more properly, in 1817, with the appearance of Exchange and Commercial Library, which would become being the first informal institution born from the initiative of the Gibraltarian civil society) and ends in our days, marked by the consolidation of the Gibraltarian political regime as a result of the approval of its current Constitutional Order of 2006.

    After completing this journey, the local regime of Spain and the Autonomous Community of Andalusia will be briefly addressed, with the aim of determining whether the State and Autonomy are really prepared for the challenge that the reincorporation of the Peñón would suppose to the Spanish and Andalusian reality
