This article demonstrates the roots of the tradition of the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin on the island of Mallorca. It begins with a search for the origins through documentation and then goes on to de-scribe what the feast consisted of, usually an exhibition of an image of the Mother of God on her bed. Finally, a brief summary is made of the situation of the feast in current times.
