Shortly before his death in the Franciscan convent at Ilok (October 23, 1456), on the border between Croatia and Serbia, John of Capestrano instructed the friars, gathered around his deathbed to assist him, to bring his goods (including his books) to the Capestrano convent. After his death, his goods were inventoried (December 3, 1456) and among them many legal books were found

Poco prima della sua morte nel convento dei Frati Minori di Ilok (23 ottobre 1456), al confine tra Croazia e Serbia, Giovanni da Capestrano manifestò la volontà che i suoi beni (tra cui i suoi libri) fossero riportati nel convento del luogo in cui era nato nel 1386. Dopo la sua morte, i suoi beni furono inventariati (3 dicembre 1456) e tra essi furono elencati molti libri giuridici.
