Resumen de Italo Calvino y Aldo Rossi en diálogo. Representaciones del monumento en la ciudad

Este artículo examina las relaciones entre el mundo !cticio de Italo Calvino y la teoría de la arquitectura de Aldo Rossi en el contexto urbano posterior al Italian Retreat después de la crisis del Movimiento Moderno. Como Rossi, Calvino quiere participar en los debates de su entorno cultural y arquitectónico, incluso si no es un debate !losó!co o literario; el autor italiano propone repensar la estructura urbana y las condiciones de habitabilidad como un factor clave en la construcción de la sociedad y la humanización de las ciudades, articulando sus propuestas en paralelo a las de Aldo Rossi. Ante la crítica a la ciudad funcional ambos, el arquitecto y el escritor, dotan al concepto de monumentalidad de gran importancia en sus re"exiones. Por ello, el principal objetivo de este artículo es analizar cómo, a partir de sus concepciones sobre la tipología del monumento se pueden establecer relaciones interartísticas para la comprensión de sus textos. Al mismo tiempo, se propone analizar cómo la lectura de los textos de Calvino permite interpretar sus ideas a partir de las propuestas de Rossi y cómo las representa en sus novelas, cuentos y ensayos para describirlas o adaptarlas

This paper examines the relations between the !ctitious world of Italo Calvino and the architectural projects of Aldo Rossi in the urban context of the Italian Retreat after the crisis of the Modern Movement. Like Rossi, Calvino wants to participate in the debates of his cultural and architectural environment, even if it is not a literary or philosophical debate; the Italian writer wants to reshape the urban structure as a key factor in the construction of societies and their dwellings in the cities, in the same way that Rossi was doing at that time. Criticizing the functional city, we consider that both the architect and the writer endow the concept of monumentality of great importance in their thoughts. Our main purpose is to examine how, from their concepts about the typology of the monument, it can be stablished an interartistic relation for the comprehension of their texts. At the same time, we analyse how the reading of Calvino’s texts allows us to interpret them through Rossi’s ideas and how the Italian writer represents these ideas on his novels, tales, and literary essays.
