    «Il Messaggero Sardo» is a newspaper for Sardinian migrants funded by the Region of Sardinia in 1969. The newspaper is still active nowadays, despite some challenges through the years.Since its start, «Il Messaggero Sardo» has been aiming to be the publication of "all" Sardinian migrants living abroad, providing them with independent information.Since the mid - 1960s, the Region of Sardinia has been engaging in a dialogue with its migrants. However, the Sardinian communities living in non-European countries were left out of this dialogue for over 20 years.Nevertheless, these “forgotten” Sardinian communities acknowledged «Il Messaggero Sardo» as the only way of maintaining a link with their motherland. This paper shows the main events that led to the consolidation of the relations between the Region of Sardinia and the Sardinian migrants living in Argentina and the important role played by«Il Messaggero Sardo».The newspaper has proven to be an essential source regarding the study of Sardinian emigration and this is the reason why it should become the subject of specific studies. This way, the newspaper will be given its rightful place in the reconstruction of the Sardinian social and editorial history

    «Il Messaggero Sardo» è un giornale per gli emigrati sardi finanziato dalla Regione Sardegna dal 1969 e, tra alterne vicende, tuttora attivo. Fin dalla sua nascita si pose l’obiettivo di garantire un'informazione indipendente e di essere un giornale per “tutti” gli emigrati sardi. Dalla metà degli anni Sessanta, la Regione Sardegna instaurò un dialogo con i suoi emigrati, ma per circa un ventennio ne furono escluse le comunità di sardi residenti nei paesi extraeuropei. Queste comunità “dimenticate” riconobbero ne «Il Messaggero Sardo» l'unico strumento per mantenere un legame con la terra di origine.Saranno ripercorsi i principali eventi che hanno portato al consolidamento delle relazioni tra la Regione Sardegna e i sardi in Argentina anche attraverso le pagine del «Il Messaggero Sardo». Giornale che si è dimostrato una importante fonte di studio per l'emigrazione sarda e che dovrebbe divenire esso stesso oggetto di studio affinché possa ritagliarsi un giusto spazio nella ricostruzione della storia sociale e delle esperienze editoriali dell'isola.
