Context i identitat dels conversos cerverins (Segle XIII-XV)

    La documentación local a menudo se ha mostrado arisca a la hora de facilitar la identificación de los judios conversos. Con el doble objetivo de tratar de superar esta dificultad y , a la vez, replantear el llamado problema converso en el contexto local cervariense, hemos consultado la bbibliografía publicada hasta el momento y, sobre todo, hemos revisitado los fondos del Archivo Comarcal de la Segarra. El interés principal, sin embargo, era poder elaborar un listado final de identidades convversas, ampliando la nómina de las reconocidad hasta ahora. Constatamos la dificultad anunciada, a pesar de la cual hemos podido sumar una treintena de individuos conversos, hasta ahora inéditos que vivieron o se movieron entre la Segarra i el Urgell de los siglos XII al XV. La relativa modestia de los resultados obtenidos la hemos convertido en la ocasión perfecta para ahondar en determinados aspectos de contexto general confrontados con los vividos en clave local, como por ejemplo, por citar sólo algunos, la idoneidad o no de distinguir entre conversiones voluntarias y coaccionadas con relación a los episodios de violencia sufridos por el colectivo hebreo, los periodos con mayor número de conversiones y la ruptura o continuidad de los circulos de solidaridad existentes entre los judíos y los neófitos con relación a una posible zona de vivienda de conversos en Cervera.

    Local documentation has frequently proved unfriendly when it comes to facilitating the identification of Jewish converts (conversos). With the double aim of attempting to overcome this difficulty and, at the same time, reframing the so-called "converso problem" in the local Cervera context, I have consulted today and, above, revisited the collection of the Segarra Country Archive. The main goal, however was to compile a definitive list of converso identities, broadening the inventory of the individuals recognised until now. While confirming the difficulty of the task, I was able to add the names of thirty conversos, previously unknown, who lived or travelled between the counties of Segarra and Urgell from the 13th to the 15th century. The relative modesty provided the perfect excuses for delving into certain genral issues local context, including, to name or not of distinguishing between voluntary and forced conversions in relation to the episodes of violence inflicted on the Jewish highest number of conversions and the rupture or continuity of Jews and neophytes in relation to a possible convert living area in Cervera.
