Resumen de Claves histórico-literarias en La estrella de Sevilla para una interpretación de The Star of Seville de Fanny Kemble

El presente artículo pretende hacer un acercamiento a la pieza teatral La Estrella de Sevilla considerando tres aspectos: las referencias mitológicas y su vinculación con la concepción religiosa de la sociedad española del siglo XVII, el marco de la ciudad de Sevilla y, basado en todo ello, una traslación histórica de los hechos históricos de la obra a los que tenían lugar cuando esta fue escrita. Puesto que, además, fue la obra en la que Fanny Kemble se inspiró, ya en el siglo XIX, para escribir The Star of Seville, se comprobará la validez de dicho planteamiento también en su posible interpretación.

This paper aims to make an approach to the play La Estrella de Sevilla considering three aspects: the mythological references y their connection with the religious conception of Spanish society in the 17th century, the setting of the city of Seville and, based on all this, a historical transfer of the historical deeds of the play to those that took place when the work was written. Since, besides, it was the play in which Fanny Kemble was inspired, already in the 19th century, to write The Star of Seville, it will be verified the validity of this approach in its possible interpretation as well.
