El desarrollo del Cicloturismo como una modalidad turístico sostenible

    En los últimos años, el uso de la bicicleta como medio de transporte o para la práctica deportiva y de ocio se está incrementando paulatinamente. Más concretamente, la combinación de la práctica ciclista y del turismo ha dado lugar a una nueva modalidad turístico sostenible, el cicloturismo.

    El objetivo del presente trabajo es poner en valor la contribución que el cicloturismo representa para la implementación de un turismo sostenible en los destinos. Para ello, se expone su conceptualización y las modalidades existentes, así como los impactos que su desarrollo supone para los destinos. Se identifica las principales políticas públicas acometidas a nivel europeo y español, exponiéndose los principales recursos ofertados para su desarrollo e implantación.

    Las conclusiones recomiendan impulsar el cicloturismo en el seno de la Unión Europea (U.E) a través de la creación de servicios turísticos adaptados a las necesidades del cicloturista, dada la significativa contribución que esta modalidad representa para la diversificación y sostenibilidad turística.

    Recent years, the use of the bicycle as a means of transport or for sports and leisure practice is increasing steadily. More specifically, the combination of cycling practice and tourism has given rise to a new sustainable tourism modality, cycling tourism.

    The objective of the present work is to put in value the contribution that cycling tourism represents for the implementation of sustainable tourism in the destinations. For this, it is exposed its conceptualization and the existing modalities, as well as the impacts that its development supposes for the destinations. It identifies the main public policies undertaken at European and Spanish level, exposing the main resources offered for its development and implementation.

    The conclusions recommend to promote cycling tourism within the European Union through the creation of tourism services adapted to the needs of the cyclist, given the significant contribution that this modality represents for diversification and tourism sustainability.
