Poland’s current challenge is to complete its transition to a fully developed market economy, while advancing towards integration into the European Union. This paper is devoted to analyzing the Polish labor market’s maininstitutions, circa 1995, in the areas of labor reallocation, wage setting, labor supply, and labor market regulations. In each of these areas, policy recommendations are proposed in order to reform them, so as to reduce unemployment and enhance Poland’s chances of a successful accession to the EU.
