  La proliferación de bulos en internet, que ejerce una competencia desleal a la cada vez más mermada credibilidad de los medios tradicionales, se está imponiendo en el actual panorama informativo, en el que no se disponen de muchos instrumentos para hacer frente a esa ola de patrañas y mentiras. Los nuevos hábitos de consumo de información en el barrizal de las redes virtuales, donde se lee con prisas y el contexto pasa a un segundo plano, y conviven por igual infundios y noticias contrastadas, han creado un caldo de cultivo tóxico que atenta contra el derecho de la ciudadanía a recibir información veraz. Por si fuera poco, en este escenario se mueven también los intereses no siempre confesables de los grupos de presión políticos, económicos y mediáticos. En este contexto, resulta gratificante con los principios básicos del periodismo conocer experiencias como la del diario digital español Público y su herramienta TJ Tool para la transparencia informativa.

  The proliferation of hoaxes on the internet, which exerts unfair competition to the increasingly diminished credibility of the traditional media, is prevailing in the current news scene, in which there are not many instruments available to deal with this wave of hoaxes and lies. The new habits of information consumption in the quagmire of virtual networks, where it is read in a hurry and the context goes to the background, and infundies and contrasted news coexist alike, have created a toxic breeding ground that violates the right citizens to receive accurate information. As if that were not enough, the not always confessable interests of political, economic and media pressure groups also move in this scenario. In this context, it is gratifying with the basic principles of journalism to learn about experiences such as that of the Spanish digital newspaper Público and its TJ Tool for information transparency.
