Resumen de ¿Conoció el albéitar Pedro García Conde la obra de Carlo Ruini?

  Pedro García Conde fue uno de los albéitares más importantes del siglo XVII. Su obra “Verdadera Albeytería” (ediciones 1685, 1706 y 1734) representa uno de los mejores textos de albeitería de todos los tiempos y contiene numerosos capítulos dedicados a la anatomía del caballo. El libro incluye también dos láminas, una de las cuales refleja con gran exactitud la cavidad abdominal de una yegua en gestación. En este trabajo analizamos los capítulos dedicados a la anatomía del caballo y lo comparamos con las descripciones de Carlo Ruini en su obra “Anatomia del Caballo, Infermita, et suoi rimedii” (Bolonia, 1598). En nuestra opinión, el albéitar de Manzanares hizo una descripción muy extensa de determinados aspectos relacionados con la anatomía del caballo, descripción basada principalmente en la lectura de textos clásicos pero sin citar la obra de Carlo Ruini. Sin embargo, la lámina anteriormente referida parece estar copiada del libro de Carlo Ruini, Por esta razón creemos el Albéitar García Conde conoció en algún momento la obra de Carlo Ruini aunque desconocemos los motivos por los que no decidió incluirlo entre los autores por él consultados.

  Pedro García Conde was one of the most important Albeytares of century XVII. His book “Verdadera Albeytería” (editions 1685, 1706 and 1734) represents one of the best texts on Albeytería of all the times and contains numerous chapters dedicated to the anatomy of the horse. The book also includes two pictures, one of which accurately reflects the abdominal cavity of a pregnant mare. In this work we analyze the chapters devoted to the anatomy of the horse and compare it with the descriptions of Carlo Ruini in his book “Anatomia del Caballo, Infermita, et suoi rimedii” (Bologna, 1598). We think that Pedro García Conde did a very extensive description of certain aspects related to the anatomy of the horse, but it was a description based mainly on the reading of classic texts but without mentioning the book of Carlo Ruini. However, the picture about pregnant mare seems to be copied from Carlo Ruini’s book. For this reason we believe that García Conde once knew the book of Carlo Ruini although we do not know the reasons why he did not choose to include it among the authors he consulted.
