Resumen de Luchas de poder en la Mérida visigoda

En este estudio nos proponemos analizar las relaciones consabidas entre los obispos católicos y arrianos de Emerita Augusta (Mérida, España) respecto a la capital del reino localizada en Toledo. De este modo analizaremos en un primer momento las tensiones entre Masona y Leovigildo y, en un segundo momento, estudiaremos la revuelta de Sunna y Segga contra el rey toledano Recaredo. Todo ello nos servirá para ver que, ambos enfrentamientos, hay que ubicarlos más como uno de los típicos enfrentamientos entre grupos aristocráticos visigodos en pos de la búsqueda o conservación del poder que a luchas de religión (arrianismo-catolicismo).

In this study we propose to analyze the well-known relationships between the Catholic and Arian bishops of Emerita Augusta (Mérida, Spain) with respect to the capital of the kingdom located in Toledo. In this way we will first analyze the tensions between Masona and Leovigildo and, secondly, we will study the revolt of Sunna and Segga against the Toledo king Recaredo. All this will help us to see that, both confrontations, we must locate them more as one of the typical confrontations between Visigothic aristocratic groups in search of the search or preservation of power than to religious struggles (Arianism-Catholicism).
