    La imagen del marinero ha sido utilizada por los creadores en las artes visuales del siglo XX como prototipo de personaje para expresar el deseo homosexual masculino y se ha convertido en parte delimaginario del colectivo LGTB en la cultura occidental. Desde la cultura grecolatina a la actualidad, el símbolo del marinero se ha mantenido, revitalizado y fortalecido más aún desde el periodo de entreguerras a laactualidad. Este artículo comienza con un estudio del origen del símbolo desde las fuentes greco-latinas hasta surepresentación en siglo XX por los artistas visuales más importantes de la cultura queer: pintores, dibujantes, fotógrafos y cineastas.

From the Greco-Latin cultureuntilnow, the sailor symbol has remained and strengthened more from the interwar period until today. This article begins with a study of the origin of the symbol since the Greco-Latinrootsto the representation by the most important queer visual artistsduringthe XXth Century: painters, drawers, photographers and filmmakers.
