. El artículo se centra en la imagen de la reina viuda, teniendo en cuenta las principales categorías presentadas en la historiografía más reciente. Como ejemplo nos hemos detenido en la reina húngara Elisabeta de Luxemburgo, quien enviudó en 1439 cuando su esposo, el rey Alberto de Austria, perdió la vida en batalla. Al verse envuelta en las luchas intestinas por los tronos de Hungría y Bohemia, Elisabeta tomó la decisión de abandonar el país llevándose a su hijo, así como la corona de Hungría, lo cual determinó una interesante serie de eventos históricos que constituyen el objeto de análisis del presente estudio. La adaptación de estos eventos al texto dramático de Lope de Vega, El rey sin reino, completa el panorama de la circulación de la información a principios del siglo XVII

Our article focuses on the image of the widow queen, taking into account the main classifications of the most recent historiography. As a case study, we have chosen the Hungarian queen, Elizabeth of Luxembourg, who became a widow in 1439 following the death of king Albert of Austria in battle. Caught in the middle of the fierce battles for the thrones of Hungary and Bohemia, Elizabeth took the bold decision of stealing the Hungarian crown and flee the country alongside her new born son, Ladislaus the Posthumous, which determined a series of interesting historical events we are hereby going to analyse. The adaptation of these events to the dramatic text of Lope de Vega, El rey sin reino, completes the panorama of the circulation of information in the early 17th century
