    El objetivo del presente artículo consiste en estudiar la recepción de la historia del santo polaco Casimiro Jaguelón en la Europa moderna, y en España en particular. Con este fin profundizaremos en los factores de carácter religioso y político que contribuyeron al desarrollo de su culto en el imperio hispano, así como en la huella que este dejó en la literatura española, la comedia Antes morir que pecar o San Casimiro, atribuida a Agustín Moreto. Nos centraremos en analizar la fidelidad histórica de la trama y su ficcionalización, prestando una especial atención a las relaciones entre el poder político y la religión que refleja. También examinaremos el contexto histórico-político de la pieza, teniendo en cuenta la importancia de la actividad de la Compañía de Jesús y el gobierno del rey polaco Juan Casimiro Vasa para la creación de la comedia. Asimismo, intentaremos dar unas nuevas precisiones sobre su posible datación

    The aim of this article is to study the reception of the history of the Polish saint Casimir Jagellon in modern Europe, and in Spain in particular. To this aim, we will delve into the religious and political factors that contributed to the development of his cult in the Hispanic empire, as well as the mark it left on Spanish literature, the comedy Antes morir que pecar o San Casimiro, attributed a Agustín Moreto. We will focus on analyzing the historical fidelity of the plot and its fictionalization, paying special attention to the relationship between political power and religion it reflects. We will also examine the historical-political context of the piece, taking into account the importance of the the activity of the Society of Jesus and the government of the Polish king John Casimir Vasa for the creation of the comedy. In addition, we will try to give some new details about its possible dating
