Dentre os desafios do fazer historiográfico, a busca e o acesso às fontes primárias consistem num fator decisivo para análise dos pesquisadores. Nem sempre disponíveis, os acervos possuem outros problemas como falta de profissionais, material danificado e ilegível. A disponibilização online permite ultrapassar algumas dessas dificuldades, facilitando a pesquisa, ao mesmo tempo em que outros desafios se mostram presentes, principalmente sua divulgação. Apresentar um destes acervos digitais, o Latin American Microform Project, suas vantagens e limitações é objetivo deste artigo. Para tanto, sob o olhar da História Digital, analisou-seesta iniciativa com destaque aos usos para o historiador. Além do Banco de Dados per se, utilizaram-se os relatórios da instituição responsável pelo projeto. O esforço pela disponibilização e indexação de material primário provoca, para além das limitações existentes, uma alteração na própria relação entre o pesquisador, as fontes, o texto e, principalmente o leitor.

Among the challenges to historiography, the search and access to primary sources are a decisive factor in the researchers' analysis. Not always available, the archives have other problems such as lack of professionals, damaged equipment and unreadable documents. The online availability of these collections allow us to overcome some of these difficulties, facilitating research, while others challenges appear,especiallythe disclosure of these material. This article aims to present one of these digital collections, the Latin American Microform Project, its advantages and limitations. Therefore, based on the premises of Digital History, we analyzed this initiative highlighting the uses for the historians. In addition to the Database itself, we used the reports of the institution responsible for the project. The effort of providing primary material and their indexing,beyond limitations, provoke changes in the relation between the researcher, fonts, texts, and especially the reader.
