    A lo largo del siglo XIX el uso del papel pintado como revestimiento mural decorativo se fue generalizando en toda España. La creación de gran cantidad de fábricas especializadas en este producto ornamental y la incorporación de nuevas tecnologías permitieron aumentar significativamente su producción con el consiguiente abaratamiento del mismo. Paralelamente, el surgimiento de infinidad de pequeños establecimientos de venta ayudaron con su popularización. De esta forma se adaptó a los gustos y modas del momento convirtiéndose en un elemento indispensable de la decoración interior de las viviendas.

    Throughout the 19th century the use of wallpaper as a decorative wall covering became widespread throughout Spain. The creation of a large number of factories specialised in this ornamental product and the incorporation of new technologies allowed a significant increase in production with the consequent reduction in price. At the same time, the emergence of a large number of small shops helped to popularise it. In this way, it adapted to the tastes and fashions of the moment, becoming an indispensable element in the interior decoration of homes.

    XIX. mendean zehar, paper margotuaren erabilpena horma irudien estaldura apaingarri bezala hedatzen hasi zen Espainia osoan. Produktu edergarri honetan espezializatutako lantegi ugarien sorkuntza eta teknologia berrien eransketa, honen ekoizpena handitzea baimendu zuten eta ondoriozko prezioa jaiste. Aldi berean, salmentazko establezimendu txiki ugarien sortzea paper margotua ezagutaraztean lagundu zuten. Modu honetan, garaiko gustu eta modetara moldatu zen, etxe barneko apainketan beharrezko elementua bilakatuz.
