  Estimulado por una reciente obra americana, que ofrece un panorama general de la vida intelectual y producción literaria de los cristianos en la Tierra del Islam en la Edad Media, se propone retomar la cuestión en una perspectiva más amplia y de otra forma estructurada. Provisto de instrumentos de trabajo de distintas procedencias, al mismo tiempo que apoyado en una intensa labor de investigación personal, esta presentación se orientará en torno a tres ejes: los estudios árabe-cristianos como tal, el movimiento literario arabo-cristiano hasta la Alta Edad Media, y las formas y géneros de esta literatura. Se espera así ilustrar, a su vez, la extraordinaria convivencia intelectual que existió entre la mayoría islámica, más o menos uniforme, y las variadas comunidades etnolingüísticas cristianas dispersas desde el Valle del Nilo hasta Mesopotamia, pasando por el rico espacio siropalestino. Incidentalmente, se evocará el impacto de esta complicidad intelectual islamo-cristiana en la Europa medieval.

  Spurred by a recent American work offering an overview of the intellectual life and literary output of the Christians in the Land of Islam during the middle ages, we propose to revisit the question from a broader basis and a differently structured perspective. Provided with working instruments of different origins and based on intense personal research, we hinge this presentation on three axes: the Christian Arab studies as such, the Arabic Christian literary movement up to the High Middle Ages, and the forms and genres of this literature. In this way, we hope, in our turn, to illustrate the extraordinary intellectual convivial spirit that reigned between a rather uniform Moslem majority and the ethno-linguistic Christian communities scattered between the Nile Valley and Mesopotamia, passing through the variegated Syro-Palestinian territories. Incidentally, we will recall the impact of this joint Islamic Christian complicity on Medieval Europe.
