Situaciones estresantes y síntomas de tensión en mujeres que viven con consumidores de alcohol

    El alcohol es una de las sustancias que genera más problemas de salud en la población de México. Además, provoca perjuicios a los que rodean a los consumidores. Se destaca, que las mujeres son las más afectadas por el consumo de alcohol de otras personas. Objetivo. Verificar la relación de situaciones estresantes y síntomas de tensión en mujeres que viven con consumidores de alcohol. Método. Estudio transversal, descriptivo correlacional, con una muestra de 147 mujeres que vivían con un familiar con consumo excesivo de alcohol. Resultados. Se encontró relación positiva y significativa entre las situaciones estresantes por consumo de alcohol de un familiar y los síntomas de tensión en las participantes (rs=.241, p=.002). Además, los resultados de los modelos de regresión logística mostraron efecto positivo de las situaciones estresantes sobre los síntomas de tensión físicos (β = .006, p = .023) y psicológicos (β = .006, p= .032).

    Conclusión. El experimentar situaciones estresantes por vivir con un consumidor de alcohol se relaciona con mayor número de síntomas de tensión físico y psicológico. Esto contribuye a mejorar el entendimiento de los problemas que se generan en las familias con problemas de alcohol.

    Alcohol is the substance that causes the most health problems in the population in Mexico. In addition, it causes harm to those around consumers. Women are the most affected by the drinking of others.

    Objective. Verify the relationship between stressful situations and symptoms of tension in women who live with alcohol users. Method. Cross-sectional, descriptive correlational study, with a sample of 147 women who lived with a relative who has an excessive consumption of alcohol. Results. It was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between stressful situations caused by a relative's alcohol consumption and symptoms of tension in the participants (rs = .241, p = .002). In addition, the results of logistic regression models showed positive effects of stressful situations on the symptoms of physical tension (β = .006, p = .023) and psychological (β = .006, p = .032). Conclusion. Experiencing stressful situations due to living with a consumer is related to a greater number of symptoms of physical and psychological tension. This contributes to improving the understanding of the problems that are generated in families with alcohol problems.
