    Este artículo aborda la vida y obra de Simeón Set, cuya escrito más importante es la traducción incompleta del Panchatantra indio del árabe al griego, conocido como Στεφανίτης καὶ ᾿Ιχνηλάτης (adaptación de Kalīlah wa-Dimna). Simeón es un personaje oscuro, cuya única mención en una fuente contemporánea –Ana Comnena– lo presenta negativamente. La biografía de Simeón necesita ser reconstruida a partir de su propia obra. En este trabajo se presenta nuevo material sobre la última etapa de su vida y el lugar en el que transcurrió. Se reconstruye también parte de su biblioteca. Simeón Set tuvo conciencia de la autenticidad de las traducciones árabes de algunas de las obras maestras de Alejandría.

    This article deals with the life and works of Symeon Seth. His most important work is the incomplete translation of the Indian Pañcatantra from Arabic into Greek, called Στεφανίτης καὶ ᾿Ιχνηλάτης (a rendering of Kalīlah wa-Dimna). Symeon is a shadowy figure and the only mention of him in a contemporary source, by Anna Komnini, paints him in negative light. His biography needs to be reconstructed by the headings of his own works. In this article, new material regarding the end of his life and the location where he spent his last years is offered. Furthermore, we can reconstruct a part of his library. Symeon Seth evidently had a fine feeling for the genuineness of some of the Alexandrian master’s works in Arabic translation.
