Resumen de Hábitat III: perfil del turista y capacidad de la ciudad de Quito, Ecuador para albergar mega eventos

  En el mes de octubre de 2016 se realizó en la ciudad de Quito, Ecuador, la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano Sostenible (Hábitat III), la cual contó con más de 10.000 participantes internacionales de 167 países. Este evento de grandes dimensiones busca fortalecer la imagen de la ciudad de Quito como un destino turístico para eventos y congresos. Para aportar a este objetivo, se analizó el perfil del turista que asistió a los distintos eventos que se realizaron en la ciudad. Para ello, se aplicaron 445 encuestas que permitieron conocer datos demográficos, motivación del viaje, organización del viaje y satisfacción de la estadía. Como resultado se obtuvo que Quito tiene capacidad logística y de servicios turísticos para fortalecer el turismo de eventos y congresos, con una satisfacción mayormente positiva por parte de quienes asistieron a los eventos de Hábitat III.

  In October 2016, the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) was held in Quito, Ecuador, with more than 10,000 international participants from 167 countries. This large event seeks to strengthen the image of the city of Quito as a tourist destination for events and congresses. To contribute to this objective, the profile of the tourist who attended the different events that took place in the city was analyzed. For this purpose, 445 surveys were carried out which allowed us to know demographic data, motivation of the trip, organization of the trip and satisfaction of the stay. As a result, Quito was able to have logistical capacity and tourism services to strengthen event and congress tourism, with a mostly positive satisfaction from those who attended the Habitat III events.
