    La presente investigación tiene como objetivo el cálculo del índice de Vegetación Diferencial Normalizado, utilizándose para ello imágenes satelitales del Landsat 7 y 8 tomadas por sus respectivos sensores, cuya resolución es de 30m para las bandas espectrales y de 15 m la banda pancromática, en el área de la reserva de la biosfera Península de Guanahacabibes, la cual comprende los principales cambios en la respuesta espectral de las formaciones boscosas en los últimos veinte años desde 2000-2019 tras el paso de los huracanes Isidore y Lili en 2002, Iván en 2004 y Michael en 2018 que hicieron grandes afectaciones al área en estudio; permitiendo de esa forma la clasificación de la vegetación en distintos estados que van desde el conservado hasta el muy degradado teniendo como premisa la respuesta, firma o signatura espectral de la vegetación en las bandas tres y cuatro para Landsat 7 y cuatro y cinco para Landsat 8, estableciendo valores que van desde los 0.24µm-1µm. Además, se obtiene como resultado que la vegetación de la reserva es muy susceptible al paso de este tipo de eventos climatológicos y que demora cierto tiempo en el restablecimiento de sus valores iniciales.

    This research aims to calculate the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index, using Landsat 7 and 8 satellite images taken by their respective sensors whose resolution is 30m, spectral bands and 15m panchromatic band in the Guanahacabibes Peninsula biosphere reserve area, which includes the main changes in the spectral response of forest formations in the last twenty years from 20002019 after the passage of hurricanes Isidore and Lili in 2002, Ivan in 2004 and Michael in 2018 that have affected the area; Allowing in this way the classification of vegetation in different states that range from conserved to very degraded, having as a premise the signature or spectral signature of the vegetation in bands three and four for Landsat 7 and four and five for Landsat 8, establishing values ranging from 0.24µm-1µm. In addition, it has been shown that the vegetation of the reserve is very susceptible to the passage of this type of weather events and that it takes some time to restore its initial values
