Resumen de Un Índice de la Escala Única de Remuneraciones del Sector Publico Chileno: 1974-1986

• This paper's main goal is the development of a wage index for the Chilean public sector for the period 1974-86. By using information from Santiago's Treasury, the index is constructed based on wages paid to public employees in different categories. The behavior of the index contrasts signifcantly with the only alternative, the index of wages in "communal and social services", published by Instituto Nacional de Estadisticas.
